Philip Seymour Hoffman’s life and career way was tragically short. But even during that small period he managed to earn both, fame and money. The fans remember him by such films as “Scent of a Woman”, “The Talented Mr. Ripley”, The Hunger Games franchise etc. But he left not just great films to his descendants, but also $25 million net worth. Acting and theater directing were his sources of wealth.

Philip Seymour Hoffman was born in a family of a Xerox worker (father) and a lawyer (mother). He felt deep interest in acting in his teens, when his mother took the boy to the theater. There he watched “All My Sons” production, which completely changed him.

With the heart, captured by acting, Philip Seymour Hoffman still wasn’t sure, that acting was his cup of tea. He was keen on sports and spent long hours, doing wrestling. But soon he was injured during his wrestling lesson and it was the reason, why he left sports.

From that moment Philip was completely involved into acting. He spent summer at the New York Summer School, where he studied arts, and after graduation from school entered New York University, where he had become a trained actor.

Philip Seymour Hoffman started his career from supporting roles, but his talent was obvious and he always got much critics approval. His performance was always different, he could play various characters and it was his strong side.

For his great work Phillip got not just a huge salary, but also numerous awards. Four-time Oscar contestant, he managed to win the statuette once.

Probably, he could do much more as an actor and moneymaker, but his life was tragically stopped in February, 2014. The reason of death was drug overdose.
