A unique personality Stephen Hawking owns $20 million net worth. He earned his wealth through his work of Director of Research Centre at Cambridge University. In addition he authored and co-authored more than 15 books, which were sold all over the world. Some of them served as the base for documentary films. His most famous literary works are “A Brief History of Time”, “The Grand Design” and others.
Stephen Hawking gained international popularity and increased his earnings in 1974, when he made a scientific discovery. Then Stephen discovered so called Hawking Radiation. To explain in simple words, the cosmologist proved that not everything escaped in black holes (as it was supposed earlier). Some part of radiation can “run away” from the black hole. Thus the hole loses the part of its energy, which theoretically can cause its disappearance one day.
This discovery made Stephen Hawking popular all over the world and brought him a string of awards. The scientist gained international admiration not just for his research work but also for the fact, that he had made it, being absolutely disabled.
In his young years Stephen Hawking looked like a typical English boy. He was active and inventive at the same time. The son of two well-educated parents (his father was a popular medical researcher) Stephen was interested in cosmology since his teens.
He entered Oxford University in 1959. Four years later he moved to Cambridge to get PhD in cosmology. That very year his health condition got worse. He was diagnosed with a rare disease, named amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Stephen gradually lost body control. Nevertheless he managed to become rich and fathered three children with his ex-wife Jane Wilde.
